However, at that time, on the one hand, due to insufficient technical skills, I was afraid of losing my main phone with one set. On the other hand, Huawei Honor had a relatively closed system and it was difficult to unlock BL. There were very few public solutions on the Internet, so I was hesitant to start. (However, Tai Chi is still used to achieve some of the above functions)

Since the problem of bl lock cannot be solved, then let’s solve the problem of mobile phones that cannot be unlocked by bl. So I later replaced it with Xiaomi 12sp, which is “born for fever”, and put the mask on very smoothly, fulfilling the dream of building a mobile phone for many years.

Ahem, let’s get back to the topic. Since the Honor 20 has been gathering dust in a drawer for a long time, I want to refresh it so that it can continue to serve, such as running simple web services or monitoring functions. I simply searched for Honor 20 flashing tutorials on Coolan and saw a lot of experience posts. I just picked the post with the longest word count and started the long journey of flashing the phone.

1. A computer (my computer doesn’t recognize USB, so I don’t know why, but I just took over my roommate’s computer, akimbo)

First, use the official Huawei Mobile Assistant (the latest version v14.0.0.310 as of now) to downgrade from Hongmeng 3 to Magic 10 system, and just choose to switch to other versions.

All the way from Hongmeng 3 –> Hongmeng 2 –> Magic 11, once you get here, you need to change to a lower version of Huawei Mobile Assistant (v10.1.0.550OVE), and use the proxy tool HiSuite Proxy to downgrade the proxy to Magic 10

The proxy process is also very difficult. It needs to be downgraded all the way to 10.1.0.168 or below. Sometimes the downgraded version span is too large and it will fail, so it needs to be downgraded bit by bit, which is very time-consuming.

If you further downgrade to Magic 9, you will no longer be able to use proxy tools. You must use professional tools, which are more complicated. It is precisely this step that causes bricking.

The winding road to brick transformation

To downgrade from Magic 10 to Magic 9, you need to use the software Octoplus tool, which seems to be referred to as "Octopus Toolbox" in Chinese. It is a paid software (you can directly search for "octoplus dongle" on a certain website to find daily rental accounts, and the price is relatively cheap)

The daily rental account I found needs to use USB Redirector Client to activate Octoplus. It is quite annoying to install a new software. The port of the activation server given by the store is 11111, but the default port on the software is 1111. As a result, I looked at it for a long time and didn’t know why it couldn’t be activated.

When using the Octoplus tool, you need to use the Chrysanthemum 3rd Generation adapter, so I bought one from a certain store for 17.8 yuan, and it was delivered by express delivery in three days. It was really slow~~~

Just plug it into the computer. You can indeed see a few more special ports in the device manager, which should be used by Octoplus. Then in theory, you can use Octoplus to open the temporary BL lock and downgrade to Magic 9

But the problem came, because I downgraded to 10.0.0.169, and the firmware required by Octoplus needs to be downloaded from the World Wide Web (the registration fee is 10r, friends who need to go to the World Wide Web to download the firmware can contact me for free help). There is no estimate of the corresponding version on the World Wide Web, so I chose a higher version to flash. The writing process was very smooth. After a smooth restart, I was caught off guard when it became a brick.
